Howdy Evan. Stumbled on your site so I have a old japanese bike question for you. I’ve just stumbled into a nearly free 1979 (i’m told) yamaha TX500 (i’m told). Now, there’s not much info available out there, but for 50 bucks how could I say “no”? My question is – what is the difference between the XS line and the TX lines? No where seems to have it very clearly defined. Is a TX from 1979 really an XS or were they made at the same time, or…. I can’t find a darn thing. Thanks either way, and great site!
The changes are extremely minor, they are basically the same bike.
