Swapping Gauges on 1982 Yamaha Seca 750 with 650 Maxim

Hey I saw your article on carb cleaning and found it very useful thanks. I noticed that it was on an 83 Seca 750. I have an 82 750 maxim and I was wondering if you might know the answer to a question regarding the gauge pods. I personally do not like the huge square pod that came factory on the bike and was wondering how invasive it would be to switch to the two circle, 650 maxim pods. Thanks for any help and maybe a reference for parts other than ebay or craigslist.

I’m not positive if the gauges will have wire pigtails that plug and play directly. However – I would guess that the mounting plates are the same and they’ll bolt right on. The best way to figure it out would be to watch on ebay – look at the plugs of a gauge cluster on ebay and see if they match up to yours.

I would guess that they will swap – but I can’t guarantee. However, having owned both the bikes your talking about – I can understand why you want the dual pod setup.
