What about boiling carbs in vinegar instead of lemon juice?

What a brilliant website – thank you for putting so much info online.

I read your carb cleaning guide, and was intruiged by the lemon juice boiling idea (I have a set of Honda VFR carbs I am trying to restore) but it is hard to get hold of in bulk in the UK.

Do you think something such as vinegar would work as well?

That right there is a great idea. I haven’t tried using vinegar to clean anything on my bike – but the acidity level is very comparable to that of lemon juice, so I bet it might work just as well. It’ll probably smell way worse though.
