Honda CX500 Factory Service Repair Manual
I had a request for a Honda CX500 manual. So here it is! This manual is broken into individual files, one for each chapter. Download the ones you need, or all of them.

Please be patient with me as I am not much of a mechanic and could make a mistake when referring to the proper name of the parts. I am trying to assemble the carburetors on my 1982 Yamaha V-Max 650 and forgot what went where. While the four carbs are on my work bench and the air box side is closest to me the first thing I see is the needle and seat (where the gas float is connected) the next thing looking towards the butterfly in the carburetor is what I would call a round tower with a brass jet screwed into it and a washer under it. The next tower which is shorter also had a brass jet screwed into it but does not have a washer under it. I have eight of these brass jets that can screw into either tower; does it make a difference which jet goes into which tower?
You have 4 main jets and 4 pilot jets. The four main jets are the ones with the larger holes in them and they go into the tall tower with a washer under them. The four pilot jets are the ones with the smaller holes in them and they go into the shorter towers. It does not matter which jet is installed in which carb because they are all the same size.
Big jet – big tower. Small jet – small tower.
Cheers.
Honda CB900c Electrical Problems
thanks for the suggestion on the noise problem. I opened it up and found out my oil pump had seized up. replaced it and it was fine. now i have another problem. started my bike this morning and got ready to go to work. put it in gear and heard a small pop then the engine died. it will turn the starter but i dont think it is getting a spark. fuses look fine. could you give me a tip?
Glad you got the oil issue fixed before a terrible failure.
Well first you want to check if you have spark or not. Pull a plug and give it a quick check. Know how?
Electrical shorts giving a ‘pop’ or ‘zap’ sound can be from a large number of sources. Did the sound come from the front of the bike (ignition/gauges/headlight) or from under you (battery/solenoid) ?
the sound came from the front of the bike. i measured the voltage from the wire hooked into the ignition coil and received a 10.5 reading. I replaced the coils and the same problem persists. i changed the spark plugs and no change. the sound came from the area of the ignition coils but i am getting sparks on all four plugs.
Hundreds of Motorcycle Service Manuals – For Free!
I get emails from readers quite regularly looking for service manuals for their bike. I always try and help as best as I can. Over the years I’ve amassed quite a large collection of motorcycle service manuals for all sorts of bikes. I have factory repair manuals, part microfiche manuals, setup and tuning documentation, owners manuals, etc, etc. The last couple days I’ve posted about 280 documents to this site which will hopefully help out a lot of home bike mechanics with a new project. I have some more, but that is most of it.
There are many sites out there selling these same documents and taking advantage of those willing to shell out some cash. The large bulk of these manuals are factory provided to dealers or come with the bikes as service supplements. The sites selling these same manuals have no authority to do so. Just grab them here.
You can browse them by clicking on the brand you are looking for in the Categories menu on the right. Or you can search by using the search box. Keep in mind I don’t have every bike model.
If you have any manuals in digital format you would like to contribute I’d be happy to post them and give you a big thanks!
If you have any questions about the files themselves just leave a comment or post a question over in the forum.
Soon to come – My collection of wiring diagrams!
Happy wrenching!
* It is not my intention to infringe upon any copyright laws. If these factory offered service manuals are determined to be questionable I may need to remove them.
